What to Expect

What Can I Expect at JCC?

You can expect a family atmosphere and a warm welcome when you arrive.  We consider all who pass through our doors important and welcomed guests among our family.

Dress Code

Many people believe that there is a specific dress code when coming to church.  The answer is yes there is a dress code.  The dress code at JCC is wear some clothes.  We value your presence as you allow us to worship with you.  So please do wear some clothes when you come to JCC.

Music Service

We seek to involve all of the church body in worship through a variety of musical activities, such as congregational singing, special music by groups or individuals that wish to share their talent.  All music is presented, not to entertain, but to provide a outlet of worship to God.  Our music team works very hard each week to present an appropriate environment for worship.  Music is just one of many forms of worship as we seek to praise God for his love, grace, mercy, provision, and protection.

Lord's Supper

We choose to follow the pattern of the early church by participating in the Lord's Supper weekly.  This is a time of remembrance of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.  This sacrifice is the cornerstone for who we are and what we do as Christians.  We believe that the cup represents Jesus blood that was poured out for many and the bread his broken body upon the cross.  Participation in the Lord's Supper is open to all baptized believers in Christ, not just members of our local church body.

Offering

We do take an offering up each week.  The offering is viewed as a chance to worship with our whole being.  The financial parts of our life often get overlooked as an opportunity to worship God.  Through this offering, we view it as a practical way that God provides resources for this body to function by covering monthly expenses.  Offering is a voluntary act of worship that is not required for anyone but it is an act that helps to recognize God's ownership of all things.  A portion of our offering goes to support five different missions that do their work worldwide.  Among these missions are church planting work in Brazil and Germany, supporting troubled children in Oklahoma, training up of new church leaders through a Christian Bible College, and leading children to a saving knowledge of Christ through the work of a Christian Camp in SW Missouri.

Preaching

Hearing teaching from God's word is an important part of the service at JCC.  God has given and preserved the Bible for us to act as an instruction manual for life.  The Bible is still relevant to life in the 21st century and our minister seeks to present the message of God in a clear, understandable and applicable way.  We usually offer a chance to respond to the message at the end.  If you are interested in hearing one of our messages, please click here

Opportunities for Study

We have a special Study Group that meets on Sundays at 9:15 am (just before the main Worship Service) to give everyone a chance to get more in depth with the Scriptures.  We have different classes for the different age groups so you will always feel welcome and among friends.  Whether you've never cracked open a Bible, or you're a seasoned pro, this time is sure to bless you as you gain wisdom and knowledge from God's Word.

Sunday nights, at 6:00 pm, brings us together as D21, Disciples in the 21st Century, a Youth-themed course that is anything but a kiddy-group.  All ages are welcome to attend these loud, powerful engaging sessions to challenge and empower your life for Christ in today's world.   Click Here for more on D21.

Fellowship

We provide many opportunities to create and develop lasting and meaningful relationships.  We see the church body as "family," and as you know with your own family, we must spend time together to get to know one another inside and outside of the church setting. On the first Saturday of each month, at 8:00am, our men and boys gather for their monthly prayer breakfast.  Once a month our Ladies get together for their Ladies-Only fellowship.  On the second Sunday of each month, the church has a fellowship dinner after the morning service.  Everyone is invited to stay and eat whether or not you bring food.  It is a great time to get to know our family (and to get a belly full of good food!). Then, adult participation is always welcome for our Community Kids Outreach (game night) on Wednesday evening at 6:00pm. This is a time of fun, fellowship, and teaching from God's word that directly impacts the lives of our Youth.

Service

We take our cue from Jesus in the area of service.  Mark 10:45 tells us that "Even the Son of Man (Jesus) did not come to be served but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many (NIV)."  Too much of the world sees Christians as self centered and narrow minded.  We strive to change that view by various activities of service and love.
